     2020 Literacy combines various ways of learning and subject areas in multiple ways to optimize a student's learning experience.  Though writing is one component, it is weighted heavily because it is used in all aspects of life.  In order for a student to be successful academically and professionally, he must be able to write well, especially in our age of electronic communication.

     According to Webster's dictionary, to be literate is to be "educated, cultured; able to read and write; ... having knowledge or competence."  Our focus with 2020 Literacy is to make learning meaningful through multidisciplinary literacy-- to see clearly the interconnections among subject areas through multiple ways of conveying knowledge.
